Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT) for the insertion of peripheral cannulae.

We are about to roll out a new training programme designed to train the 'active' medical teams in the aseptic non-touch technique for cannula insertion at three time points during the year.

The training will take place in ward 5E from 2pm—4.30pm on the following dates:

  • September 2nd 2010
  • January 13th 2011
  • May 11th 2011

All AGM medical staff should attend one of these sessions, preferably as a team. Training takes approximately 15 minutes and the sessions are run as an 'open surgery': just turn up when it's convenient.

Those on nights should give their names and email addresses to the Project Lead Kate Pridham who will arrange a sweep up session.

Any staff not currently on the wards are welcome to come along and be certified.

There is no need to re-certify once you have been trained the three training sessions are intended to capture new medical staff as they rotate through and are valid for two years.

We will be auditing our progress at three time points approximately one month after each training session.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the 2nd of September.

Claire Colebourn, Kate Pridham and Chris Bunch.
